Summit Shines at Défi Sportif

Summit School showed up for Défi Sportif this year and gave it everything they had.

Our student athletes took to the court and the rink with energy, focus, and heart, and they came home with hardware to show for it. The Summit Défi Basketball team earned a silver medal, and in a milestone moment for our school, the Summit Défi Ball Hockey team captured gold for the very first time. It was a proud day for everyone who wore the Summit colours.

At Summit, we believe athletics are an essential part of a complete education for neurodivergent students. Sport builds far more than physical strength. It develops focus, coordination, confidence, and the ability to work as part of a team. It gives our students a structured way to set goals and the joy of reaching them. For many of our students, the lessons learned on the court and the rink carry over into the classroom, the workplace, and everyday life. That is why we invest in adapted sports and create as many opportunities as we can for our students to move, compete, and thrive.

Défi Sportif is one of the largest adapted sports events in the world, welcoming athletes of all abilities to compete on a real stage. For our students, it is so much more than a competition. It is a chance to train toward a goal, to push past what they thought possible, and to feel the pride that comes from representing their school. Win or lose, every student who steps onto that floor is a champion in our eyes.

What stood out most was not the medals, as wonderful as they are. It was the teamwork. It was the way our students cheered each other on, picked each other up, and played with a sportsmanship that made the whole Summit community proud.

Watch our student athletes in action in the video below.

Congratulations to every student who participated, and thank you to the coaches, staff, and families who made it all possible. You showed everyone what Summit is made of.
