Parent Teacher Communication

Clear and frequent communication between parents and teachers is critical in helping each student succeed.

Padlets

Padlet is an on-line teacher resource application that allows parents and guardians at-home access to the material being taught in the classroom. Through Padlet teachers can also post updates of events and outings.

At Summit School, each teacher maintains and updates a Padlet for their classroom. Parents and guardians are given passwords that allow them access to their child's classroom Padlet.

For information about your child's classroom Padlet, please contact their homeroom teacher.

Parent Teacher Meetings and Evaluations

Throughout the school year there are scheduled days for parent teacher meetings. These are once at the beginning of the year (meet the teacher) and again after each of our three reporting periods. A meeting request form will come home in advance of these meetings with instructions and scheduling information. EACH CAMPUS HAS A DIFFERENT SCHEDULE, so make sure you are checking the right calendar/schedule for your child.

Individualized Education Plan

The MEES guidelines require every student with learning or developmental disabilities to follow an IEP (Individualized Education plan) . The plan supports personalized measures to help our students progress in their schooling and to foster their success.

The IEP is a dynamic document that is updated on an ongoing basis in order to meet your child’s educational needs. As well it outlines the student's program of education.

  • An Individual Educational Plan describes the student’s learning profile through identifying:

    • Strengths and Assets

    • Challenges

    • Educational Strategies

    • Required materials and adaptations
