Summit School Welcomes New Board President, Dr. Mitch Shiller

Summit School is entering a new chapter in its journey, as we bid a warm and grateful farewell to our outgoing Board President, Susan Kasner, and welcome Dr. Mitch Shiller as her successor.

Introducing Dr. Mitch Shiller

Taking the helm as the new President of the Board of Directors is Dr. Mitch Shiller, a pediatrician with over 35 years of experience serving children and families in the Montreal area. His longstanding practice has included roles at the Children’s Care Clinic in Pierrefonds, the Montreal Children’s Hospital, and as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at McGill University.

Dr. Shiller’s professional life has always centered around the health, well-being, and development of children. But beyond his medical career, he has also dedicated over 30 years to working with not-for-profit organizations that focus on social work, employment, immigration, and social housing. His efforts have consistently aimed to identify long-term solutions to generational poverty, making him a passionate advocate for systemic change and community empowerment.

For Dr. Shiller, Summit School is more than a professional commitment—it’s a personal one. “Summit School has always held a special place in my heart,” he shared, “for the excellent environment and educational experiences it has provided to my patients and their families.”

He expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity to lead the Board during this exciting time. “I am honoured to work with the Board of Directors, the staff, and you the parents, to help Summit School grow, develop, and plan for its future.”
