McHappy Day 2026: A Record Day, A Lasting Tribute

McHappy Day has always been about showing up for the community, and this year our community showed up in a big way. Through the combined efforts of Summit School and the Cassir family McDonald's franchises, more than $100,000 was raised in a single day.

The day carried special meaning. Summit's new rooftop turf was dedicated to the late Frederic Cassir, the beloved West Island franchisee who passed away last year on McHappy Day itself. Fred was the person behind the idea that ten cents from every McHappy Day meal would go to support families in need, and that spirit of giving defined everything he did. Now his name lives on in a space where our students play, move, and belong.

To honour Fred and everything he stood for, our team created a tribute video that traces his story through the people who knew him best. We invite you to watch it and to remember, as we do, what one generous life can set in motion.

Summit's McHappy Day story reached well beyond our campus. CityNews Montreal joined us to cover the rooftop turf dedication and Fred's legacy, featuring our students, the Cassir family, and the meaning behind the day. Global News also marked the occasion with coverage of McHappy Day across the West Island. You can watch both reports below.

Our thanks go to the Cassir family, to every McDonald's team member who made the day possible, and to the families and partners who continue to stand with Summit.
