Breaking Barriers for Women and Girls in Neurodevelopment
On November 15, 2024, Summit School’s SCERT Research Centre hosted its most attended SCERT Conference to date, and the event was nothing short of extraordinary. Held at McGill University's New Residence Hall, the conference brought together educators, researchers, clinicians, and families to explore cutting-edge advancements in supporting individuals with neurodevelopmental conditions (NDCs).
The conference’s main keynote was delivered by Dr. Francesca Happé, who focused on the unique challenges and opportunities faced by women and girls with autism. Her thought-provoking address set the tone for the event, emphasizing the importance of gender-specific approaches in research, education, and care. Another keynote by Dr. Len Abbeduto provided valuable insights into language development and the importance of collaborative research to improve outcomes for individuals with NDCs.
