Learning how to work prepares our students for
what lies ahead.
A Hand-Crafted Education
Summit Leather Co. is a work training program for students with special needs between the age of 16 and 21 attending Summit School's downtown campus known as TECC.
Our workshop provides an environment where students can develop work skills, problem solving skills, fine motor skills, and social skills through a creative and hands on experience.
All of our proceeds serve as fundraising for Summit School. The money made from these products goes back into the leather program and also helps to provide funding for various outings and activities throughout the school year.
Thank you for your support!
THE WORKSHOP
All of our products are made entirely by our students. The process begins at the Centre des Metiers du Cuirs de Montreal where we cut our leather using a "clicker" machine and stamp our leather using a Kwikprint machine.
Next, the students complete various tasks including hole punching, button setting, riveting, dyeing, sewing, and the final assembly of products in our classroom workshop
