Home Ideas and Strategies
At Summit, we believe the values identified above are important for everyone to aspire to. When we see these behaviors in our students, teachers, assistants, support staff and administration can compliment them and reward them with PEAKS points. Whether it is helping a fellow student with their work, complimenting each other, going out of their way to help clean the classroom or just being consistently positive, the PEAKS programs reinforces those behaviors by acknowledging them. Of course, good behavior is its own reward, but the PEAKS program adds to a student's sense of pride, and lets them be an example to their classmates.
Aside from rewarding and reinforcing positive behaviours, an important part of our PEAKS program is actually teaching the students the PEAKS values and what they look like in different settings (e.g. bus, classroom, gym, outing). The PEAKS values are taught explicitly in class and incidentally throughout the day through modelling, role plays, and other activities.
The PEAKS program enhances our school spirit. It brings us together at as a school to celebrate successes big and small.
